Freeze-dried beef hearts: 100% beef heart, single ingredient. A treat for dogs and cats.
TruePaw beef hearts are made from fresh meat of Latvian origin using freeze-drying. The product is first frozen, after which moisture is removed under vacuum through sublimation. This process helps preserve the natural taste, aroma, and nutritional value.
Heart is lean muscle meat with a high content of biologically valuable protein. It naturally contains taurine, iron, B vitamins, and coenzyme Q10. Taurine is especially important for cats, as their bodies produce very little of it naturally.
The only protein source is beef heart. No grains, preservatives, or additives. A transparent single-ingredient composition lets you know exactly what your pet is getting.
Adjust the amount to the size and activity of the animal.
Always provide fresh drinking water.
Store in a cool, dry place, protect from direct sunlight.
Close the package carefully after opening.
Intended for use as pet food only.
When cutting the product, wash the knife and cutting board after use.
How many beef heart pieces can I give my dog per day?
In feeding, heart is classified as muscle meat rather than a secreting organ such as liver, so it can be given more frequently. Follow the general rule that treats should make up no more than approximately 10% of your dog's daily calorie intake - for a medium-sized dog, this means a few pieces per day. If your pet receives a lot of treats, reduce the amount of regular food accordingly.
Is the treat ground or a whole piece?
It is a whole piece. The hearts are not ground, pressed, or shaped, and before freeze-drying we trim away excess fat and blood vessels, leaving clean muscle meat. This is what sets this treat apart from ground and shaped products, which may contain ingredients or parts that the customer cannot see.
Are beef hearts suitable for cats?
Yes. Heart is one of the naturally richest sources of taurine and is especially valuable for cats. For cats, it is usually more convenient to break the pieces into smaller portions. If you are looking for a smaller treat that requires no preparation at all, take a look at our chicken hearts as well.
Why is taurine important for cats and dogs?
Taurine is an amino acid that is essential for heart muscle function, vision, and the nervous system. Cats produce very little taurine on their own, so they need to obtain it from their diet - a long-term deficiency can lead to heart and vision problems. Dogs generally produce taurine themselves, but some breeds may benefit from an additional dietary source.
What is the difference between freeze-dried and dried?
Freeze-drying takes place without heat: the product is first frozen, and then, under vacuum, the ice turns directly into vapor without passing through a liquid state. This helps preserve almost all of the nutritional value, natural flavor, and aroma, while making the meat porous and lightweight. Conventional drying, or dehydration, uses heat in the range of 50-70 °C. The final product is denser and firmer, and some heat-sensitive vitamins are lost during the process.
